Game #4 (PvT)

OK, I feel like my macro was better in this game, even though I do end up losing. I made some notes as I watched the replay, here goes:

  • First of all, I didn't miss a probe until 4:15, which isn't too bad.
  • I'm not sure what I was doing when I went to build a Gateway and didn't at 4:45. Probably should have done that.
  • Missed probe production from 6:00-7:30. Ouch >_<
  • The expansion at 8:30 seemed late, but might have been at a good time probe-wise, since I forgot a bunch (see above)
  • Probes after 10:00 are... spotty at best.

Now, as for the army play, I have a few questions. Should I have attacked earlier? Should I have gone around, or through the rocks like I did? Should I have retreated? If so, how would I have known?

Any other pointers for anything I missed?

  1. Two things I would like to point out first again is macro and scouting. Just going to say those first and get it out of the way.
Also, the minimap. You had plentiful warnings on them and you seemed oblivious to them. I think you are concentrating too much on the main screen instead of the resource/food and the minimap.

Generally I mentally group probe and army production into 1 set. If i'm going to build probes I also build my army at the same time and vice versa.

    > Should I have attacked earlier?

Scouting helps a lot here. It will help you see and gauge his army to see if our army will fucking decimate his army or not. And yes you should've just gone and fucking killed him earlier.

    > have gone around, or through the rocks like I did?

I hate scrap station. This question is pretty situational and I can't really give you a good answer. If you are attacking, then yes you should break down the rocks so you can reinforce faster however it leaves your third pretty vulnerable.

    > Should I have retreated?

I honestly think that if you controlled your units better you would have owned his base. His army was elsewhere so he had few units in his main. However, all your units clumped up at the ramp where his tanks would have a BEAUTIFUL place to fuck your army up.

    > If so, how would I have known?

Basically if you attacking a terran straight up, his tanks will eat your up your army. You might as well not mine for 5 minutes. However, in your battle, his army was split up and he pretty much had almost nothing in his main so you should've easily taken him out.

Nothing too big but a final pointer is collosi aren't counters to mech. If you see mech, get immortals and chargelots.

  2. Sorry I saw the battle wrongly. The terran didn't split up his forces.

I think the better thing would have been to send just 5 zealots to the one tank next to his naturals and target fire the other tanks. Try to take out his tanks as fast as you can.
I honestly think if you did that you would've won.

And also get chargelots and immortals to counter the tanks.

    Sorry about the mistake.
